PHOENIX – Police arrested four men, one accused of stabbing the others, in the wake of a brawl two months ago at Chandler Fashion Center, authorities said Thursday.

A verbal confrontation between two groups escalated into a physical altercation around 5:30 p.m. on March 12 and was captured on mall security video, the Chandler Police Department said in a press release.

One of the groups consisted of three brothers from Sierra Vista in southern Arizona. One of them, 23-year-old Andrew Courtney, wielded a knife during the fight, according to the probable cause statement for his arrest. His brothers weren’t charged.

There were six males in the other group, three of whom were arrested for their roles in the incident. Those suspects underwent hospital treatment for non-life-threatening knife injuries.

The brothers were seen in the video leaving the mall after the initial argument to put packages in their car, police said. They went back inside, where the two groups met again. That’s when the confrontation turned physical.

Video showed Courtney aggressively brandishing a small knife and stabbing members of the other group, according to the probable cause statement.

Courtney and at least one of his brothers also suffered cuts, police said.

The brothers left the scene before officers arrived, police said. Chandler detectives coordinated with Sierra Vista Police to arrest Courtney in Sierra Vista.

Courtney was booked into Maricopa County Jail on three counts of aggravated assault with a dangerous instrument, a class 3 felony.

Police also booked 19-year-old Tarik Deeb of Queen Creek, 18-year-old Isaias Reece of Phoenix and 18-year-old Nicholas Aguilar of Mesa into the Chandler-Gilbert joint holding facility for disorderly conduct-fighting, a class 2 misdemeanor. Deeb also faces a class 3 misdemeanor count of misconduct involving weapons, police said.
