PHOENIX – Police in Chandler said Wednesday they arrested two men suspected of robbing an older couple at gunpoint in their home.

A Chandler Police Department spokesman said Christopher Gross, 23, of Mesa, and Roger Chavez Gil, 24, of Phoenix were booked and face charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping and theft of means of transportation.

Police said a couple called Monday shortly before 5 a.m. to report a home invasion near Knox and McQueen roads.

The couple said they were asleep when two men got inside the house through a garage they’d forgotten to close.

The suspects woke them and demanded money, credit cards, cellphones and keys to their car, which the two used to escape.

With help from Phoenix and Glendale police, Chandler detectives were able to track down the suspects in the couple’s vehicle near 55th and Glendale avenues, where they made a traffic stop and made the arrests.
