PHOENIX — Sky Harbor International Airport is experiencing the second wettest month on record, according to a tweet from National Weather Service Phoenix.

Rain totals on Friday and Saturday, added to the totals brought from storms earlier in the month, have vaulted Oct. 2018 totals over the totals from Oct. 2000 and closer to the totals of the wettest October ever at Sky Harbor in 1972.

The 3.35 inches of rain accumulated this month is still more than one inch away from the all-time record for October at the Airport, which comes in at 4.40 inches.

Less than two weeks ago, remnants of Tropical Depression Rosa dropped a whooping 2.36 inches of rain in Phoenix.

Thunderstorms were expected to continue into the night with isolated storms expected until 10:00 p.m.

As of 3:26 p.m., precipitation totals near Sky Harbor ranged from 2.17 inches at GateWay Community College just north of the airport and 2.20 inches where 40th Street ends at the Salt River just south of the Airport.
