PHOENIX — Former San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain can’t seem to sell his Paradise Valley home. He reduced the asking price for the property this week.

Cain dropped the price to just under $5.2 million, meaning the now-retired pitcher would lose about $300,000 if that winds up being the sale price.

He originally listed the six-bedroom, six-and-a-half bathroom home for $5.85 million two years ago. He upped that to nearly $6 million last year.

We’re not entirely sure why he’s trying to sell it. After all, Arizona is a great place to retire.

And this would be quite a house in which to spend retirement.

The gated estate is located near Tatum Boulevard and Doubletree Road. The home is slightly more than 11,000 square feet.

It has an underground and upstairs garage connected by an elevator, a chef’s kitchen and a master wing that includes its own exercise room and steam shower — complete with a TV to catch the game.

The home also has a great room with beamed ceilings and a guesthouse that was converted into a media room.

Outside, there is a putting green and swimming pool, along with some pretty impressive mountain views.

The 33-year-old Cain called it a career after last season. He spent his entire time in the big leagues with the Giants and won three World Series rings.

It seems former pitchers have struggled to sell their homes as of late. Former Arizona Diamondbacks ace Randy Johnson cut the asking price on his Paradise Valley home last month.

We want to hear from you.
