New program at Scottsdale Community College helps veterans begin law enforcement career

PHOENIX — A new program for veterans interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement will start in the upcoming spring semester at Scottsdale Community College.
Scottsdale-based security firm Windom Security Strategies Today recently partnered with the community college to launch a series of five classes in a one-year program taught by former law enforcement professionals.
Through the program, students will be set up to be more competitive as they pursue a career in law enforcement while also working for Scottsdale-based Windom Security, according to a press release.
“Students will be able to earn the highest private security wage in the state while learning from local retired law enforcement professionals who will help them prepare for their future career working in public safety,” Windom Security CEO Dylan Vicha said in the release.
The veterans-only program, which includes effective communication and report writing in criminal justice and introduction to criminal justice, will award students a certificate of completion in law enforcement when finished.
Enrolled, full-time students can earn an hourly wage of $19 when working for Windom Security.
