PHOENIX — A man who identified himself as NBA Hall of Famer Michael Jordan’s son was booked over the weekend for allegedly assaulting Scottsdale hospital staff members while he was receiving treatment for a head injury.

The Scottsdale Police Department said in an email that officers responded to a call around 12:45 a.m. Saturday to restaurant/nightclub Casa Amigos, where security had asked for help getting medical attention for a man named Jeffrey Jordan, who was injured in a fall.

Witnesses told police Jordan, 32, hit the back of his head on a table when he slipped, causing him to bleed and medical help was called.

While he was receiving treatment at a hospital, police said Jordan allegedly assaulted the staff.

After he was released from the hospital, Jordan was taken to Scottsdale City Jail for processing. He was booked on charges of aggravated assault on a health care professional.

Authorities said he was released from jail less than an hour later.

Police said they haven’t confirmed whether Jeffrey Jordan is related to the former basketball star, only that the younger man and his friends at the club said he was.

The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office will review the case.
