PHOENIX — A new gourmet cookie shop that sells giant cookies with an emphasis on high-quality ingredients is set to open in Gilbert on Friday.
Batch Cookie Shop, a local and family-owned business, is holding a grand opening from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the location at 1495 N. Higley Rd. The cookie shop is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Flavored cookies include chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, white chocolate raspberry, snickerdoodle, sugar cookie, toasted coconut and cookie dough. Gluten-free options are also available.
Those who stop by for the grand opening on Friday can get a free chocolate chip cookie while supplies last, according to a press release.
Attending the grand opening isn’t the only way to get a free cookie.
The shop once a week will post a service challenge on its social channels, with those who participate being entered into a drawing to win a free box of cookies from the shop.
“With the social distancing of the last year, a lot of people are feeling really isolated,” Jessica Peterson, Batch VP of marketing and co-owner, said in the release. “Cookies and service are both about finding connection, so it resonated with our values to pair them together.”
Service prompts range from drawing kind chalk messages on someone’s driveway to random acts of service for a neighbor, according to the release.
“It’s important for us that we make a positive impact,” Brad Peterson, Batch CEO and co-owner, said in the release. “That’s why we launched our ‘Eat Sweet, Be Sweet’ campaign which encourages people to do ‘Acts of Sweetness’ in their communities.”
The family behind the shop develops the recipes, makes deliveries and worked in pop-up shops every weekend over the past year while waiting for the physical store to be built, according to the release.
