PHOENIX — Those catching a game or a show in downtown Phoenix will soon have a new place to grab a drink or a bite to eat as a sports bar and restaurant is set to open in the old Hard Rock Cafe space.

Owned by Scott and Melissa McIntire, who are behind The Lola at Westgate in Glendale, The Ainsworth Phoenix is planning to open later this spring on the corner of Second and Jefferson streets, directly across from the Phoenix Suns Arena.

“We’ve been looking for the right opportunity to open a second restaurant and we’ve definitely found it with The Ainsworth,” Scott McIntire said in a press release. “We couldn’t have dreamed of a better location to bring our vision to life and translate some of The Lola experience to Downtown Phoenix.”

The couple promises to bring a sophisticated twist on classic American fare favorites and signature cocktails at the new restaurant and bar, along with favorite elements and menu items from The Lola.

“We’ll definitely be offering our award-winning brunch and some of the fun boards and cocktails that we’ve become known for at The Lola,” Melissa McIntire said in the release. “I’m really excited about the interior which will feature luxe touches like a gorgeous marble bar and statement chandelier, along with fun details like a living wall and instagrammable artwork.

“It will be chic, yet approachable, providing the perfect vibe for dining, drinking and socializing.”

Guests also won’t miss a moment of the game with two massive walls of TVs, according to the release.

The restaurant in preparation for the opening is looking to hire 30 people for all front and back of house positions. Those interested can apply by attending open interview days at the location on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or by sending an email.

The Ainsworth brand also has other locations in New York, Nashville and Louisville.

Hard Rock Cafe – known for its rock-and-roll theme – called the space home for almost 25 years before closing at the end of its lease in February 2020.
