PHOENIX – It’s probably best to leave the sleigh at home, but pile the family into any other kind of vehicle and head to the upcoming Ho-Ho Holiday Fair Food Drive Thru at the Arizona State Fairgounds.

Fair officials announced the admission-free special event Tuesday. The food fun is scheduled Dec. 10-13 and Dec. 17-20, Thursdays-Fridays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and noon to 10 p.m. weekends.

Fairgoers can stay to eat or go home but everyone must remain in their vehicles at all times while they’re on-site.

The grounds at McDowell Road and 19th Avenue in Phoenix hosted a similar drive-thru food tasting in the fall, as a substitute for the yearly State Fair that was called off because of coronavirus restrictions.

Menu items for the holiday version include gingerbread funnel cakes, candy cane cotton candy, deep-fried egg nog and, of course, turkey legs.

The fair website is expected to be updated with more available treats and a map soon.

The drive-thru will double as a charity event, part of the Great American Milk Drive.

Anyone who brings a receipt of $5 or more for milk donated to the campaign to the drive-thru will receive an insulated mug and recipes for hot chocolate.

We want to hear from you.
