2 killed in separate car accidents on Phoenix streets

PHOENIX – Two people were killed in separate car accidents overnight on Phoenix streets, police said Monday.
Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in an email that Katrina Barrientos, 45, hit a brick wall at a home near 40th Street and Cactus Road on Sunday around 11:30 p.m.
Investigators said Barrientos had been speeding when she lost control of her sedan.
An unidentified man died in a two-car collision at 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road on Monday around 4:20 a.m.
Police said a car turning left on Thomas Road rolled over after colliding with a southbound vehicle on 83rd Avenue. The driver of the turning car was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was injured in that crash.
Both intersections were closed during morning rush hour.
No other details were immediately available.
