Phoenix hosts job fair for veterans

Dec 13, 2012, 2:50 PM | Updated: 2:50 pm

Veterans looking for a job got a little boost on Thursday.

Jim Garcia, one of the veterans who attended the event and a former National Guardsman, said the event helped him find employers who are looking for his job skills.

“Probably one of the best things I’ve done is joining the military,” he said. “It’s definitely given me a job skill. I got my bachelor’s degree, it’s definitely helped a lot.”

More than 25 employers set up booths at the event at the Phoenix Convention Center, which was part of the HERO Initiative set forth by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton to get the Valley’s veterans back to work.

We want to hear from you.
