PHOENIX – Some teachers in Arizona have a chance to boost the resources for their classrooms when they apply for a grant distributed by the state’s largest utility company.

Arizona Public Service will begin accepting applications online for the $500 apiece grants starting Thursday. The power company is awarding 500 grants to K-12 Title I public school teachers through its Supply My Class program.

Applicants must be teach at schools within APS service territory.

This year, the first 100 grants will be awarded to educators who have been teaching three years or less, the company said Monday in a press release.

Winners will be chosen at random weekly from Aug. 3 to Sept. 3. There will be 100 names drawn each week.

The program has been handing out the grants to teachers since 2018.

“The Supply My Class grants program is just one way we hope to show gratitude for educators, who are important partners in our state’s prosperity,” Tina Marie Tentori, APS director of community affairs, said in the release.

Previous winners can also apply again, APS said.
