Police say man killed in hit-and-run on Phoenix street

PHOENIX – A man walking along a Phoenix street was fatally hit by a car that left the scene Tuesday, authorities said.

Police have no description of the vehicle that struck the man near Bethany Home Road and 27th Avenue around 8:15 p.m.

Phoenix Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Ann Justus said officers had gotten a call about the collision and arrived to find a man with significant injuries in the street.

There was no sign of the driver, police said.

The unidentified man was taken to a hospital, where he died.

No other details of the hit-and-run were released.
