Almost 2,000 APS customers in West Valley affected by power outage

PHOENIX — About 2,000 Arizona Public Service customers in the West Valley were without power Monday night.
Customers in Avondale were affected by the interruption in service, according to the company’s outage map.
The outage affected 1,900 customers for hours.
By 5 a.m. Tuesday about 100 customers in the Valley remained in the dark.
A monsoon storm rolled through the West Valley starting at about 7 p.m., hitting some areas with more than a half an inch of rain, lightning and heavy winds.
A rain gauge in Buckeye near the Interstate 10 and State Route 85 interchange measured 2.48 inches of rain in a 90-minute stretch.
Almost 1,000 Salt River Project customers in south Phoenix were also without power as of 9 p.m., according to an outage map.
Earlier in the day, more than 1,800 APS customers in Phoenix were without power for several hours due to a downed power line caused by a vehicle.
