Phoenix museum to offer free admission to educators

PHOENIX — Teaching students can be a tough job that might feel a little thankless at times.
The Musical Instrument Museum doesn’t want those educators to feel like they aren’t appreciated, so they are offering free admission throughout July.
MIM, located near the cross-section of Mayo and Tatum boulevards in Phoenix, is holding Educator Appreciation Month.
During the 31 days in July, all prekindergarten through 12th grade educators, school and district administrators, principals, registered student teachers and homeschool educators will receive free admission upon presentation of a school ID, fingerprint clearance card or affidavit of intent.
“We believe that educators are both leaders in their communities and vital partners of the museum,” MIM said on its website.
Teachers will also receive a 10 percent discount on their entire purchase (excluding alcohol) at MIM’s Cafe Allegro and at the coffee shop. They will also get 10 percent off at the Museum Store on most non-sale merchandise, excluding selected concert CDs and final-sale items.
The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It displays more than 6,500 instruments from around the world with performances happening regularly.
