Cesar Chavez’s son continues fight for immigration reform

Nov 18, 2013, 5:00 AM | Updated: 5:00 am

It’s been several days since House Speaker John Boehner made it crystal clear that Comprehensive Immigration Reform is dead in the water.

While disheartening and frustrating for those who have been pushing for change, the fight does not stop now.

“My father used to say that the struggle continues and you only lose when you stop fighting,” said Paul Chavez, son of the well-known Mexican-American Civil Rights Activist Cesar Chavez.

Chavez says this current immigration battle is much like the one his father fought before him in that it is all about respect.

“As my father said, once they respect you, they will treat you right, pay you a fair wage for a day’s labor,” Chavez said. “I have to believe that’s the same issue with immigration reform.”

We want to hear from you.
