PHOENIX — A nanny is being hailed a hero after saving three children from a fire in Maricopa on Tuesday evening.
The fire erupted in house on the 19100 block of Shelby Drive.
Firefighter and Public Information Officer John Schaffer said when fire crews arrived on scene, thick smoke was billowing out of the garage, where the fire started.
Everyone who was inside the house during the fire escaped uninjured thanks to the fast response of the nanny, Schaffer said.
“She did everything she could, in the right fashion and it worked out well for everyone.”
Even the family dog was found safe in the backyard, Schaffer said.
It took several hours to tame the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
