Phoenix ranked eighth-worst ‘Bible-minded’ city in U.S.

Jan 31, 2013, 12:53 PM | Updated: 12:53 pm

A report released on Jan. 23 indicated that Phoenix ranks as the eighth-worst “Bible-minded” city in the nation.

According to The Huffington Post, researchers found that only 17 percent of Phoenix residents are familiar with the Bible. The study, conducted by the evangelical Christian research firm Barna Group, asserted that those who read the Bible on a weekly basis and provided accurate Bible ideologies were considered Bible-minded.

The research was based on 42,855 interviews in 96 of the largest U.S. cities between 2005 and 2012. The data showed the three most Bible-minded cities were Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tenn., as well as Shreveport, La., equally at 52 percent. Providence, R.I., tested as the least Bible-minded city.
