Chandler high school students skip AzMERIT test

The replacement to the AIMs test is not proving to be so popular.

In fact, hundreds of high school students in the Chandler Unified School District passed on the chance to pass the
AzMERIT test, KJZZ reports. While sophomores usually take the AIMs test, now juniors are being asked to take the AzMERIT test.

In fact, Dr. Matthew Strom, the district’s executive director of research and assessment, told KJZZ around 400 students skipped the first day of testing. Many parents also let their children stay home, due to privacy concerns. Strom says students provide personal information such as ethnicity and full name while taking the new test.
