Just when we thought Gadzooks Enchiladas & Soup couldn’t get any better, they are now serving breakfast! (Reminder, we wrote about their enchiladas back in 2016.)
Open since 2013, Gadzooks has received rave reviews about their unique customizable menu. Extending the menu to include breakfast has made this popular Mexican-fare restaurant the perfect quick & delicious place start to your day.
Choices include customizable breakfast tacos, enchiladas and nachos complete with a fried egg and of course, more cheese!
Each dish is made to order and baked in Gadzooks’ signature gas-fired 575-degree wood stone oven.
I was invited to stop in on a recent morning and give their new breakfast a try.
Choices for the tacos, enchiladas and nachos include roasted tomatillo chicken, savory smashed jack potato, Chile pork shoulder, sautéed spinach mushroom, guajillo-braised short ribs, melted chihuahua cheddar or asadero jack cheese and sweet and spicy cornbread.
I decided on the green Chile pork shoulder breakfast tacos. For toppings, I added guacamole, a bit of pico and their heavenly crema. The result was a piping hot hearty casserole dish of deliciousness!
The pork shoulder was tender with just the right amount of spice housed in homemade tortillas as gooey cheese surrounded everything in the dish like hot lava. The guac and crema were the perfect cool-additions. These tacos are dangerously good and *warning* very filling. I was so full I skipped lunch that day and wasn’t hungry until dinner.
Gadzooks is also offering cold brew from local favorite, Press Coffee. With breakfast like this, I understand why it’s called the most important meal of the day!
Gadzooks‘ breakfast is served 8-11 a.m. daily and has locations in Arcadia and Phoenix.
