Gilbert firefighters rescue ducklings from storm drain in adorable video

PHOENIX — A video of a group of Gilbert firefighters rescuing ducklings from a storm drain has gone viral on Twitter this week, stealing hearts across the internet.

The video, posted on Wednesday, started out with the first responders working to open the drain, with the mother duck circling close by.

Then one of the firefighters went into the drain and started pulling the little ducks out one by one to reunite them with their family.

Another firefighter then opened up another storm drain in an effort to corral the ducklings to the end of the drain.

It took a couple of minutes, but eventually the entire family was reunited.

According to ABC15, the video was captured last month at Woodside Homes’ Bungalows at Cooley Station.

It was reposted on the town of Gilbert’s Twitter account.

“Even ducklings need help sometimes!” the caption read, accompanied by three duck emojis.

“Mama duck is very grateful to @GilbertFireDept for showing #GilbertKindness and saving her little ones.”

But that was not the only Valley duck rescue that hit the internet on Wednesday: Firefighters in Scottsdale also rescued a duck family that “made their home in a backyard swimming pool.”

We want to hear from you.
