PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Corrections officials were still searching for an inmate who walked away from a work crew last month.

Officials said Skyler Martin — who was an inmate at a minimum-security prison — walked away from the crew while working at the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control facility near 27th Avenue and Buckeye Road on Feb. 8.

Martin was convicted of aggravated DUI in 2016 and was sentenced to more than seven years in prison.

He has other criminal convictions, including burglary, theft, assault, escape and drug use.

Officials said he was a transient prior to being imprisoned and lived in the area surrounded by State Route 51, Shea Boulevard and Bell and Cave Creek roads.

He was described as being a loner with few friends.

Officials said Martin, 23, has been known to drink heavily and can become disorderly while intoxicated.

Martin stands 5-foot-11 and weighs 150 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information on Martin’s whereabouts was asked to contact law enforcement or the Arizona Department of Corrections at 602-542-1212.
