PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will travel to the United Kingdom later this month to take part in a series of meetings that will address economic development in the state.

According to a press release, Ducey will be travelling to the United Kingdom for a series of meetings between Oct. 19 and 22. The governor will “tout the economic advantages of doing business in Arizona.”

Ducey will also meet one-on-one with “high-level international business leaders” that was organized by the Arizona Commerce Authority.

After the work is all done, Ducey will get to engage in a little play: The state governor will also attend the Arizona Cardinals game at the Twickenham Stadium, in Twickenham, town in southwest London, England.

Arizona has a healthy trade history with the United Kingdom: In 2016, the state’s trade with the country totaled more than $1.4 billion, including more than $858 million in exports alone.

According to the press release, the United Kingdom is also the second largest contributor of foreign direct investment in Arizona, behind Canada. UK-based businesses also accounted for 14,300 jobs in Arizona in 2015.

In a statement, Ducey said the trip will position Arizona to compete globally for jobs and talent.

“By expanding these ties, we are able to further Arizona’s reputation as a top destination for industry-leading companies and create more opportunity for Arizona citizens,” Ducey said.

“I look forward to sharing how Arizona is growing our economic competitiveness, bringing jobs to our state, and preparing our workforce for opportunities in the 21st century economy.”
