PHOENIX — For Valley residents who were basking (or freezing) in May’s cooler temperatures, the time for typical Phoenix weather has come.
Temperatures in the Valley will reach above 100 degrees this upcoming weekend — the highest of the year thus far — according to the U.S. National Weather Service.
On Saturday, the weather service is calling for a high of 104. Sunday, the high for Phoenix will be 107 degrees, seven degrees above the normal for the season and two degrees lower than the daily record.
The weather service said a high pressure system is causing the spike in the mercury.
For those of you who plan on soaking in the sun this weekend, drink plenty of water, wear comfortable clothing and take breaks when needed.
