PHOENIX — A man was arrested Wednesday night after police said he kicked a police officer in the face as the officer was responding to a call at a residence.
Mesa police were responding to an assault and domestic violence at about 10:35 p.m. Wednesday near Country Club Drive and McKellips Road when a vehicle began to approach them.
Two subjects walked up from the car, but were directed to go in the house or leave the area until the investigation was completed.
The subjects refused the officers’ orders and Luis Menoza, 18, shined a flashlight at the officer.
As the officer tried to block the light, Mendoza shoved two officers backwards starting a scuffle where the 18-year-old kicked one of the officers in the face.
Mesa police then shocked Mendoza with a Taser during the struggle. The officer was treated for minor injuries but is doing well.
Mendoza was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of resisting arrest.
