Valley to flirt with triple-digit temperatures over weekend

Apr 26, 2013, 5:00 AM | Updated: 5:00 am

PHOENIX — The Valley will make a run at its first 100-degree day this weekend, but it will likely fall a few degree short said Ken Waters with the National Weather Service.

Waters said the typical day for the Valley to see 100 for the first time is May 2.

“The earliest we saw 100 on record was March 26, 1988,” he said.

On April 21, 2012, Phoenix saw a high of 105, so even though we’re currently running about 10 degrees above normal, it’s still cooler than last year.

Waters said the latest date on record for the Valley to top the century mark for the first time was June 2, 1988.

The National Weather Service said it expects a dry May followed by a drier and warmer than average summer.
