TUCSON, Ariz. – Firefighters have rescued two teenage hikers who were
stranded in Tucson’s Catalina State Park.

Authorities say the 15-year-old and 16-year-old female hikers had run out of
water and one of them had an injured ankle.

The Golder Ranch Fire District says it took crews about 30 minutes to rescue
the girls, who were taken to a hospital for evaluation.

The Arizona Daily Star says the hikers started their trek at 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday on the Romero Pools trail and called 911 for help about 1:15 p.m.

The names and hometowns of the two girls haven’t been released yet.
