PHOENIX — The Madison Center for the Arts in Phoenix released the lineup for its 2022 Broadway season, which features the modern classic “Rent.”

The series at the venue near 16th Street and Missouri Avenue includes five performances over four days of Jonathan Larson’s Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, which is on its 25th anniversary farewell tour.

Here’s a list of the Madison Center’s upcoming Broadway season shows and dates:

  • “Tango Argentina” — Jan. 13-14
  • “Zuzu African Acrobats” — Feb. 19-20
  • “Memphis Jookin’ The Show” — March 10
  • “Rend — 25th Anniversary Farewell Tour” — March 31-April 3
  • “Mummenschanz — 50 years” — Nov. 17-19

The first show of the year, “Tango Argentina” will guide the audience through the history and various types of Argentine tango.

“Zuzu African Acrobats” is a mix of circus style acrobatics and popular dance performed along high energy music.

“Memphis Jookin’ The Show” tells the story of how a street dance style from the Tennessee city grew into a international phenomenon.

Mummenschanz will perform its 50th anniversary production, featuring memorable sketches from from Swiss-based mask theater troupe’s five-decade career.

All attendees, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a cloth or disposable mask at all times when inside the building unless eating or drinking.
