PHOENIX — The Chandler Police Department is investigating after a cat was found last week with a metal trap attached to its left hind leg.

A good Samaritan found the yellow shorthaired cat near Dobson and Elliot roads around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 12, Chandler police said in a press release.

The individual took the cat to a local animal hospital for treatment, and the cat is still being treated for injuries caused by the trap at the Arizona Humane Society Trauma Hospital.

The cat is currently on a 10-day hold with the Humane Society as part of Arizona’s seizure ordinance, according to the release.

Investigators have no leads on a suspect or motive in the case.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Chandler police at 480-782-4130 or Silent Witness at 480-648-6377.
