Newlyweds arrested after melee with police on Prescott’s Whiskey Row

PHOENIX – A new bride in a wedding dress and her groom honeymooned behind bars this weekend after an altercation with police on Prescott’s Whiskey Row, authorities said.

Ashely Jordan, 30, and Eric Cordova, 32, were booked into Yavapai County Jail on Saturday night on charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to a Prescott Police Department press release.

Around 9:30 p.m., police were called about a women in a wedding dress trying to assault an employee at a business on the stretch of Montezuma Street famous for its historic bars and saloons, the release said.

An officer located the woman matching the description nearby among a group of people who appeared to be arguing.

When the officer contacted Cordova, who was part of the group, he became verbally aggressive and gave the impression he would assault the officer, police said.

The officer attempt to restrain Cordova, and a struggle ensued, police said. When they fell to the ground, others in the group tried to physically prevent the officer from detaining Cordova.

A second officer arrived and got involved in the altercation.

Jordan hit one officer in the face and pushed another during the melee, police said.

Police got the situation under control after other officers arrived, and they learned Jordan and Cordova had been married earlier in the day.

Two men were arrested and booked along with Cordova and Jordan. Tempe’s Dustin Trout, 31, was charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice. Nevada’s Amos Puckett, 25, was charged with obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.

In addition, two men not identified in the press release were cited at the scene with disorderly conduct and released.

Two officers received minor injuries, police said.
