PHOENIX — Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Glendale is planning a big expansion for next summer.

The state’s largest waterpark, at 35 acres, announced plans Thursday to add 42,000 square feet, including lounge seating and new restrooms.

The major addition will be the 12,000-square-foot Paradise Island activity pool, with 257,000 gallons of water, “floating lily pad walk courses,” a volleyball area and a pool basketball court.

“We are committed to offering thrilling, new experiences that can be shared with family and friends,” General Manager Donald Spiller said in a press release.

“Paradise Island will feature multiple new water play activities and relaxing water fun; it’s sure to be a favorite destination for guests of all ages.”

The park’s 2020 season passes go on sale over Labor Day weekend with a discount of up to 70% off through Monday.

Hurricane Harbor was previously known as Wet N’ Wild. Six Flags purchased rights to the park and rebranded it earlier this year.

The park features more than 30 slides, rides and attractions, including North America’s first gravity-defying dueling water coaster.
