Shots were fired in a violent armed robbery at a Phoenix Subway restaurant near McDowell Road and 52nd Street.
On Monday, April 1, 2019, at about 10 p.m., Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild says a tall guy in camouflage pants came in.
“And the moment he comes in, he has that handgun out,” Rothschild said.
The man went straight to the counter, pointed the gun at the employee and demanded money. The terrified worker made a run for the back door.
“That’s when the suspect fired a round in the direction of the employee, which fortunately didn’t strike the person. It ended up hitting the ceiling,” says Sgt. Rothschild.
The gunman then jumped the counter and kept trying to get the cash register open. Ultimately, Sgt. Rothschild says, the suspect shot the register but it may have been an accident.
He left without any cash.

“Thankfully, no one was hurt, but we want to make sure no one else does this,” says Sgt. Rothschild.
It was Wednesday night, July 10th, 2019, when a man came out of a bar near Seventh Avenue and Dobbins Road.
Sgt. Rothschild says, “He’s talking on the phone and we don’t know what led up to it, but he ends up firing a gun several times.”
It was both reckless and dangerous. It’s a populated area with homes and businesses nearby.
The man arrived earlier at the bar in a white Toyota RAV4.
