PHOENIX — Millennials who are living in Phoenix fare better than millennials living in other cities in terms of wages, according to a recent report from Paychex, Inc.

Phoenix ranked as the best metropolitan city in the nation for annual hourly earnings growth rate for Millennial employees at 8.2 percent.

The trend is also reflected in Arizona, which ranked among the highest states in the nation in Millennial wage growth with a rate of 8.2 percent.

The report, titled “The Rise of the Millennial Employee,”  found that millennials are the “largest generational employee group working in the small business sector.”

In a statement, Paychex CEO Martin Mucci said the data shows that the “Millennial generation is fundamentally reshaping the American workforce.”

“This report provides HR leaders with the most current data on population and wage trends with an eye toward recruiting, retaining, and developing their Millennial employees,” Mucci said.
