Phoenix-area temperatures expected to rise over weekend, into next week

PHOENIX – As we enter the second week of June, temperatures in the Phoenix area are once again on the rise.
Valley temperatures are expected to near the 110-degree mark over the weekend and into next week, with the chance of Monsoon storms making their first appearance in 2018.

Slight relief from the heat appears to be on the way Wednesday into Thursday, with temperatures expected to take a dip to 105 degrees as tropical moisture moves into the region bringing along with it a chance of rain.
But residents must first get past a five-day stretch with temperatures hovering near the 110-degree mark.
Saturday calls for a high of 109 degrees, while Sunday takes a small dip down to 108.
The National Weather Service is warning residents to be prepared when heading out this weekend, as the heat — combined with poor air quality in Maricopa County — presents potentially dangerous conditions in parts of Maricopa County.
Temperatures of 106 degrees and above significantly increase the potential for heat-related illness.
Early symptoms of heat illness include things such as headache, thirst and muscle cramps. Serious symptoms include weakness, skin that is cool to the touch, fast but weak pulse, nausea and fainting. Severe symptoms include hot and red dry skin, fast and strong pulse, sweating that has stopped and unconsciousness.
Untreated heat illness can lead to fatal heat stroke.
