Driver is in critical condition after Phoenix shooting

PHOENIX — A man was in the hospital in critical condition after he was shot while driving his car Wednesday morning.
Police have determined the man, 42, lost control of his car near 27th and Northern avenues around 5 a.m. He eventually crashed the car into a fence near a church playground.
Police had received calls about gunshots fired in the neighborhood about the same time as the accident, but no one has reported seeing the shooting.
