The City of Glendale is encouraging residents to recycle their old cellphones to benefit the Family Advocacy Center.
The yearly campaign falls on the same day as America Recycles Day, Nov. 15. The phones are refurbished for use by shelter occupants or they are sold and the money is used to pay for hotel stays, toys, cab ride and other other services for victims.
Mobile phones can be dropped off at Glendale’s three public libraries, the Visitor Center and gate 3 at Jobing.com Arena.
The campaign collects an average of 500 cellphones a year.
