PHOENIX — Drivers can expect closures on Interstate 10 and Interstate 17 this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Westbound I-10 will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Westbound on-ramps at 27th, 35th and 43rd avenues will also be closed.

Eastbound I-10 will be closed between 51st and 67th avenues from 6 p.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Eastbound on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues will also be closed.

Drivers should consider taking alternate routes, including Loop 101 and McDowell Road.

Both I-10 closures are for bridge construction on the future Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

The 22-mile South Mountain Freeway, expected to be completed in 2020, will be a link between the East Valley and West Valley.

Southbound I-17 will be closed between 19th Avenue/Durango Street and the I-10 “split” interchange from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement improvements.

Both I-10 ramps to southbound I-17 at the “stack” interchange will also be closed.

Drivers can take eastbound I-10 or detour onto southbound 19th Avenue to eastbound Broadway Road then northbound 24th Street to reach I-10.

ADOT provides real-time highway conditions online, on Twitter or over the phone at 511.

Drivers can also get alerts and alternate route notifications via ADOT’s mobile app.
