Body found in Texas likely that of young Arizona girl

PHOENIX — A body found in Texas was likely a young girl from southeastern Arizona, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children said Thursday.

The center said pollen found on her skeletal remains showed she was likely from Arizona, though she could also be from a nearby region in Mexico.

The girl, who was between 2 and 6 years old when she died, was found wrapped in garbage bags inside of a black suitcase in Madisonville, Texas about one year ago.

The agency said a feeding tube was among the remains. The girl likely suffered from micrognathia, a condition in which the jaw is undersized and the person can struggle to eat on his or her own. It was likely she would need lifelong medical attention.

Officials were unsure if the girl was Caucasian or Hispanic. She had dark hair and was wearing a pink dress and a diaper.

Anyone with information on the girl was asked to call the center at 800-THE-LOST.

We want to hear from you.
