There will be no scheduled highway closures over the holiday weekend to complicate things for Thanksgiving drivers, the Arizona Department of Transportation said in a release.
ADOT has not scheduled any closures between Wednesday afternoon and Monday morning. Instead, it is urging drivers to use patience and be safe over the holiday.
“We’re asking drivers to concentrate on safety and to be prepared before heading out on the road,” said Halikowski. “That means getting adequate rest before traveling, obeying speed limits, avoiding distractions and never drinking and driving.”
In 2011, 14 people were killed in crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday, making it the deadliest holiday weekend that year.
