Crash at Phoenix bus stop kills 1, injures 1

PHOENIX — One pedestrian has died and another was seriously injured Monday morning when a sedan ran into a bus stop at 27th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Elsa Olivares, 22, turned herself in after initially fleeing the scene with a passenger. She was charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault, endangerment and leaving the scene of a fatal collision.

Olivares also admitted to having alcohol in her system.

She admitted to purposefully running a red light, then had to swerve to avoid hitting another car. Witnesses told police

The passenger hasn’t been found. Police identified the fatality as Harry Cleveland, 50.

A Phoenix Police spokesman said the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m.
