‘New York Times’ to allow online user editing

“New York Times” readers will soon be able to report errors in electronic stories.

According to Journalism.co.uk, “New York Times” senior editor Greg Brock would prefer to create a button on stories that readers could push in order to inform staff of an error, but due to the already high amount of email and information that the Times gets from readers, a button on every article would be hard to manage.

Brock also explained that he hopes to somewhat limit the extent that users can report mistakes because there is no guarantee that what the user reports is accurate.

Brock is dissatisfied with the current email-based correction system.

There is no specific launch date, but Brock expressed that the earliest version of the button should be released in the near future.
