Arizona girl collects 1,000 jackets for the homeless

12-year-old Makenna Breading-Goodrich only needs her red Radio Flyer wagon to make an extraordinary difference.
People has the story on the inspirational girl who spent four years in Surprise neighborhoods collecting thousands of coats to donate to the homeless.
Her charity Makenna’s Coats for a Cause recently donated around 1,000 items to Phoenix Rescue Mission.
“It gets really cold around here at night, like 30 degrees, and I want to make sure homeless people aren’t walking around without jackets or blankets at night!” Makenna told People. “I just want people to know someone cares about them.”
Makenna is a seventh grader at Canyon Ridge Elementary and has tremendous amounts of passion towards her charity and the rewards it brings.

According to People, Makenna will hand out flyers to tell the community what her goal is for the upcoming season and then she will arrive at doorsteps with her wagon asking for donations.
“When I get a thank you, it’s the best feeling,” Makenna told People. “It’s usually people who have nothing and when you show them you care, it can mean a lot.”
