‘Jaws’ celebrates 40th anniversary with screenings in metro Phoenix

PHOENIX — The movie that drove people from the water during the summer is back for a return scare.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of “Jaws,” the shark thriller is being re-released to certain theaters for limited run.

Fathom Events will present screenings of the classic Sunday and Wednesday at 16 Phoenix-area theaters.

We’re going to chum the waters for you with a peek at five of the movie’s best lines.

If you’ve never seen the Steven Spielberg film (whaaat??), SPOILER ALERTS.

The most famous:

Grizzled shark hunter Quint really got on the other guys’ nerves. He was dismissive and insulting and a know-it-all about sharks, as evidenced by this line:

“Mr. Hooper, I’m not talkin’ about pleasure boatin’ or daily sailin’, I’m talkin’ about workin’ for a livin’, I’m talking about sharkin’!”

Speaking of Matt Hooper, the oceanographer may have been a smarty-pants but he still got on a boat that was chasing a shark then became its prey.

“He ate the light.”

Brody: “I used to hate the water.” Hooper: “I can’t imagine why.”

And finally:

“Smile, you (expletive)…”
