PHOENIX, Ariz — The city of Chandler announced that the Dragonfly and Butterfly Bash will be coming to Veterans Oasis Park later this month.

The Sept. 18 free festival will give spectators the opportunity to come face-to-face with butterflies and dragonflies, learning about information such as what flowers and plants attract the creatures.

The entertainment, including creating crafts and playing games, will begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until noon with special guest demonstrations and giveaways.

“Dragonflies, damselflies and butterflies flutter over the wetland habitats at Veterans Oasis Park during the late summer,” said Ariane Francis, recreation coordinator at the Environmental Education Center.

“Take the opportunity to learn about these magnificent insects and explore our picturesque park, which is always gorgeous this time of year.”

Veterans Oasis Park and EEC are located at 4050 E. Chandler Heights Road, and the Environmental Education Center will stay open 8 a.m.-2 p.m., normal business hours.

More information can be found on the Dragonfly and Butterfly Bash by calling 480-782-2890 or visiting the EEC’s page.
