PHOENIX – Arizona-based Sprouts Farmers Market said one of the 13 stores opening in the second half of the year will be in southwest Phoenix.
The Phoenix retailer didn’t give a date for when the store starts business at 59th Avenue and Baseline Road, but said by the end of the year there would be 340 stores in 22 states.
The company announced those plans in January.
An east Mesa location at Signal Butte Road and Southern Avenue was scheduled to open June 5.
According to a Sprouts press release, “Each new store will bring approximately 140 new career opportunities to its local neighborhood.”
Overall, 30 markets will be unveiled this year. Some locations have not been released.
Last year, the healthy grocer added sites in central Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe, and expanded its delivery services in a deal with Instacart.
Instacart promises same-day service within two hours and sometimes in as little as one hour. The company was founded in San Francisco, California in 2012.
Sprouts ranked fourth on Fortune magazine’s most admired companies in 2018 among food and drug stores.
One of the driving forces behind that success, CEO Amin Maredia left the company in December after three years on the job.
He joined in 2011 as chief financial officer.
Jim Nielsen and Brad Lukow were named interim co-CEOs.
