PHOENIX — A man was found dead on a Phoenix trail on Sunday, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

Capt. Rob McDade said in an email that crews first came in contact with the man after receiving a call for an unresponsive hiker at the Deem Hills Recreational Area.

When crews made their way up the trail, they found the man, identified as Kevin Lurito, 47, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

McDade said first responders were conducting body recovery operations around noon.

Authorities have not determined his cause of death but police did not believe foul play was involved.

The Phoenix Police Department was investigating.

The Deem Hills Recreational Area is located near 55th Avenue and Happy Valley Road.
