PHOENIX — Two women were shot and killed in Old Town Scottsdale on Friday, the Scottsdale Police Department confirmed.

Police said the victims were Veleria Sharp, 48, and Laura Anderson, 49.

Both worked as paralegals at the law office of Burt, Feldman, Greneir.

Sgt. Ben Hoster told KTAR News 92.3 FM that officers found the first victim, described only as an adult female, with a gunshot wound to the head in the area of First and 75th streets.

The victim had walked to a bus parked in the intersection to ask for help, Hoster said. She was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Officers then followed a blood trail to a business on First Street, where they discovered a second adult female victim who was dead from a gunshot wound.

Police also said this double homicide is related to the shooting of Dr. Steven Pitt on Thursday.

The prominent forensic psychiatrist who provided expertise in the JonBenet Ramsey murder and Columbine High School shooting investigations was shot outside the Steven Pitt & Associates building in Phoenix.

Police are searching for a suspect.

They described a suspect in the shooting of Pitt as a adult white male, bald and wearing a dark hat with a short brim.

Anyone with information was asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.

In the same email in which Scottsdale Police said the Old Town and Dr. Pitt homicides were related, the department said it was investigating another homicide at a business located at 8010 E. Morgan Trail Suite #1.

It is unclear if it is related.
