PHOENIX — Two Arizona cities appear on Terminix’ 2018 Top 25 Termite Cities List.

Phoenix had the eleventh-most termite services last year, according to the site. Tucson fell in at No. 24.

With the temperature increasing as April is underway, Terminix warns that termites like warm weather. Activity ramps up during hot months, and termites typically live in warmer regions.

The vast majority of cities in Terminix’ list are in southern states such as Arizona, Texas, Florida and Tennessee.

The only regions in the top-25 north of Kentucky are in New York, Ohio, northern Kentucky and near the Bay Area in California.

Large termite colonies can eat up to a pound of wood per day, the site states. The tiny creatures invade more than 600,000 houses in the United States each year, causing about $5 billion in damages.
