PHOENIX — An elementary school teacher from Glendale has been reported missing in Flagstaff, according to Flagstaff Police.

Cathryn Gorospe, a 44-year-old teacher at Arrowhead Elementary, was reported as a missing person on Monday.

Gorospe told her roommate that she would be back after she drove north to bail out her boyfriend, 27-year-old Charlie Malzahn, on Friday.

Her roommate called police two days later after not hearing from her.

Flagstaff police said Gorospe was last seen at the jail just after 10 p.m. Friday, where she bailed out Malzahn. He had been in jail since Aug. 20 on theft and weapons charges.

Police believe the pair left Flagstaff going west on Interstate 10 toward Williams.

Malzhan was located in Tucson the following day, where he used Gorospe’s credit cards. He told police he had permission to use them.

He also contacted acquaintances in Clifton, Arizona in an attempt to get drugs. One of the acquaintances said Malzahn was driving a vehicle that matched the description of Gorospe’s car.

The acquaintance said there was blood on the inside of the car and parts of the rear bumper and front quarter panel were missing or damaged.

Malzahn was located in Phoenix on Monday in Gorospe’s vehicle. He attempted to flee from officers but crashed the car. He was arrested.

Gorospe is described as a 5-foot, 5-inch-tall white woman who weighs 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police believe Malzahn drove Gorospe’s car — a white 2010 Toyota Rav 4 with a Green Bay Packers sticker — from the Flagstaff area through Prescott and along Interstate 17.

If anyone has information about her whereabouts or spotted the car, they are asked to contact the Flagstaff Police Department at 928-774-1414.

We want to hear from you.
