PHOENIX — Officials who were searching for a missing hiker in Grand Canyon National Park said they have found a body they believe to be that of the Texas mother.
The National Park Service said Sarah Beadle, 38, and her two children were expected to stay overnight at the Bright Angel Campground on Tuesday. Beadle never arrived, but her 11- and 10-year-olds were found safe.
A woman’s body was found Wednesday near Black Bridge, less than mile from Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the canyon.
The Fort Worth resident had taken the South Kaibab Trail. Her backpack was found at the junction of the South Kaibab and River trails.
Beadle was an experienced hiker and knew her way around the canyon.
The park service and the Coconino County Medical Examiner were investigating.
